The Made in Britain organisation, which champions British manufacturers through its trusted trademark, has seen a significant rise in membership applications over the past month, reflecting growing consumer and business support for British-made goods.
Following the recent introduction of new U.S. tariffs on imported goods including a blanket 10% on all items and 25% on key sectors like steel, aluminium, and automotive, interest in the Made in Britain mark has soared. Applications to join the network have jumped by 20%, as UK companies increasingly seek to align with the values of homegrown quality, sustainability, and ethical business.
John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain, commented on the trend:
“Since the tariffs were announced, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in manufacturers reaching out to us. There’s a direct correlation with the new trade restrictions. British businesses are eager to showcase their products and stand behind the Made in Britain mark.
“We currently represent over 2,155 manufacturers, and each applicant is carefully vetted to ensure their products are genuinely made in the UK. Our members also demonstrate strong commitments to sustainability, ethical practices, and creating high-quality employment, values that define the strength of British industry.”
The surge comes amid wider political and public interest in supporting UK manufacturing. The Liberal Democrat Party recently proposed a national ‘Buy British’ campaign, calling for clear product labelling to encourage domestic purchasing. Made in Britain has endorsed the initiative and reached out to political leaders including Sir Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Ed Davey to highlight its role as an independent, not-for-profit organisation with a long-standing commitment to promoting British industry at home and abroad.
Made in Britain not only helps manufacturers promote their products through a widely recognised collective mark but also fosters consumer awareness and trust. Its focus on sustainability, growth, and excellence in British manufacturing supports both economic and environmental progress.
