Glastonbury Festival starts this Wednesday 21st June at Pilton, in Somerset. Those lucky enough to get a ticket will be able to enter the festival at around 9 am and can look forward to seeing Elton John’s last-ever show on Sunday night. Elton has confirmed that he has created a whole new show and set list just for this gig and he will be bringing on several special guests to support him. This year’s other headliners to play on the famous Pyramid Stage include Artic Monkeys and Guns N’ Roses; the first will play on Friday night, with the latter playing on Saturday night. Other artists on the bill include Aitch, Tom Grennan, Fatboy Slim, Fred Again.., Lizzo, and Alt-J.

This year’s festival will be run entirely on renewable energy. All stage areas will use ‘fossil-free sources’, battery hybrid systems, or solar panels to dramatically reduce the potential carbon footprint. Waste cooking oil will fuel all the generators in the festival, this even includes the shooting fire seen at the Arcadia spider. Glastonbury’s Green Fields have run on wind, solar, and pedal power since way back in 1984, but it is a first for this thinking to be applied to all production areas in the festival. For over 20 years now the festival has had enough solar panels to power 40 homes. At the time of installation in 2010, this was the largest privately owned station in the UK.

Regarding sustainability, Custom Labels have been actively looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint. In the last few months, a target area for this has been our dispatch department. To ensure that our orders are well protected in transit, we have previously used plastic to ensure that our packages are waterproof. However, we have found eco-friendly and recyclable substitutes for all the items we use in this area and are in the process of changing this over. All packaging remains equally as well protected, the consumables are just more environmentally friendly. Custom Labels are also proudly ISO 14001 registered; this is the highly regarded environmental accreditation for manufacturing businesses. To ensure that we remain accredited all processes must be geared towards an environmentally friendly thought process. So, this means that we will be looking at further ways to reduce our footprint moving forward.

Custom Labels have also previously produced asset labels for Glastonbury Festival, these were used for office equipment such as computers. The type of label chosen for this application was our Ultra-Destruct Vinyl as it is a tamper-proof label, perfect for protecting high-value objects. Once the label is adhered, if a pick of the label is attempted then a small part of it will simply fragment under the user’s fingernail. This deters theft as the user will not be able to remove the label which states that the device is your property. If you would like free samples of this label type, plus all our other options then feel free to fill out our sample request form and we will get one of these posted out to you within a day or two.
