Last Thursday (12th March) Glastonbury Festival’s Emily Eavis announced the long-awaited full festival line up for 2020. She announced it via her Instagram account and as usual, all the acts were listed on a branded poster. This time though, all the names were listed as a circular graphic, a way which seemed to cause difficulty to most people trying to read the post. One fan joked ‘I think reading this is harder than actually getting tickets’ and another stated ‘Spinning this page to try and read it has induced a migraine’.

Emily Eavis later posted a linear graphic which made the poster a lot easier to read for the user. The line-up included the third headliner, American rapper Kendrick Lamar; he will join Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift as the three headliners for 2020. Other acts listed include AJ Tracey, Blossoms, Elbow, Supergrass, Fatboy Slim, Dua Lipa, Lana Del Ray, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Sam Fender.

Festival organisers are ‘very proud of the bill that we have put together over the last year or so’. This years festival will be the 50th anniversary and is planned to commence on 24th June until 28th June. But there are growing concerns amongst festival goers as to whether the festival will go ahead. This is because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which has shaken the world, including mainland Europe in recent weeks. Initially this may make it extremely difficult for the festival to be set-up, but it may also be deemed unsafe for so many people to be congregated together at the festival if the pandemic continues to spiral out of control. The government could even ban large gatherings which would definitely put a stop to this years event.

Emily Eavis stated that they released the line-up with ‘the best intentions’ given the ‘current circumstances’ and they ‘are still working hard to deliver our 50th anniversary festival in June’. Currently it still seems unclear if the event will happen or not, but as Emily stated, ‘no-one has a crystal ball’ and we will have to wait and see how it develops in the coming weeks…
