On Thursday the vacuum cleaner failed to stop at the front door of the premises in Cambridge and 24hrs later had still eluded staff’s search efforts at the hotel.

Many people on social media sent the best wishes to the vacuum on its travels, as it “it has no natural predators” in the wild.

On Friday the cleaner was found under a nearby hedge. Staff had posted the ongoing story on social platforms, asking for it to be returned when initial fears were that the device may have been stolen, asking for it to be returned, if found.

Some on social media had joked about the adventures of the robot fearing for its safety in the great outdoors, stating that “nature abhors a vacuum”.

With the robot now returned to the hotel it has been dusted off and “is now back sitting happily on a shelf with the rest of its robot vacuum family”, Travelodge confirmed.
